We all come into this world with a purpose. Some will discover their talent late in life, others may never realize it, but there are those that are born fulfilling their destiny. Keiko Zola (meaning industrious blessing), is a child that promises to secure our future. She does all the typical 6 year old things like asking for everything in the store or on the commercials, having every waking moment full of energy, bouncing off walls, talking people ears off, falling off school bars and pushing the boys back on the playground.
The beautiful thing about her is her ability to love unconditionally. She is easily excited about the smallest of things with a learning spirit. Above all her demeanor is calm when it comes to being compassionate.
Keiko has never met a homeless or hungry person with a sign or look of need that she did not want to help. She gives a gentle reminder when her clothes are too small or she is too big for certain toys. No, she does not say these things because she wants more. Her goal is to immediately find a child to give them to. The Holy Quran teaches (2:253-286) that reminding those whom you have given to in charity in forbidden. Keiko is selfless, so when she is around a child wearing her old clothes or shoes she does not say “hey, that’s mine” instead she is grateful they found use in it.
Most children are afraid when they hear arguing or loud debates. She puts her little self right in the middle and says “everybody just calm down. Let’s breathe 1, 2, 3 “.
I laugh internally every time. She has no idea she is practicing and teaching emotional intelligence.
She represents a better world. On Kindergarten Career Day she was a scientist. Her classmates said it was boring because they were police officers or soccer players. She reminded them “nooooo, scientist make your favorite thing. It starts with ssss-liii-mmm (slime)”. How can you not see our future secure with her?!
Keiko is more than my grand-mini-me. She is better than me. She is a daily reminder of what it means to live a full life, with peace, compassion, servant hearted ways and being free of worry. I recognize these traits in her. By God’s permission, I will continue to give her the space and required tools to shape our today and tomorrow. Matter of fact, I’m on my way to hug and kiss her now.
Bible: Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Holy Quran: 3:5-6 Allah - surely nothing is hidden from Him in the earth or in the heaven. He it is who shapes you in the womb as He likes; there is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise.
